Does death come in threes? I have always heard if one person dies two more usually follows, especially famous ones. I don't know if that is true, but considering the last few days it certainly seems to be.
I read about Ed McMahon dying last week I think. I always enjoyed watching him on the Johnny Carson Show. He was always smiling and cheerful. Then Farrah Fawcett passed away yesterday morning, then in the afternoon, Michael Jackson.
I was a big fan of Farrah Fawcett. I thought she was so beautiful. Her smile was dazzling and that big mane of hair was her crowning glory. I watched her in Charlie's Angels back in the '70's but never kept up with her after that, except little tidbits I read in magazines from time to time. My sympathy went out to her during her courageous battle with cancer. I pulled for her to beat the odds and overcome, but it just didn't happen.
Then came the news of Michael Jackson. I have never been a fan of his but I do remember him when he sang with his brothers in The Jackson Five. My girls used to listen to his music when they were young. His life was too weird for my liking yet he was a human being and I did hate to hear of his passing.
One thing for sure. Death is coming to all of us eventually. Rich or poor, young or old, it plays no favorites. My prayer is that we all prepare for eternity while we are still in the land of the living.
